Grimsley (N.C.) 2015 midfielder Daniel Godwin has been named the Heritage Lacrosse Boys’ Player of the Week.
Godwin had eight goals in a recent 16-9 win over North Guilford. Last week Godwin had three goals and three assists in a big 13-12 win over rival Page. Grimsley is currently 6-1 with its sights set on a conference championship.
Godwin is signed with Division II Wingate.
Why was the Page game such a big win for your team?
Godwin: “Beating Page is always a big conference win for us. In my last three seasons at Grimsley this has been our first win over them. It’s a huge conference booster and a great rivalry win.”
What helped you achieve such a strong performance?
Godwin: “A lot of picks got set that opened up great opportunities. Everyone was working off ball which always helps. All around it was a great game. Lots of opportunities that we capitalized on.”
What is your team’s outlook for the 2015 season?
Daniel Godwin
Godwin: “Ultimately to win the conference tournament and end as champions. We also hope to make a run in the tournament for states.”
What are your personal goals for the 2015 season?
Godwin: “Since it’s my senior year I hope to help the younger players to be the best they can be. Also, I hope to improve on keeping my head up and feeding those players who are opened, opposed to always looking for the goal.”
